According to Le Parisien:
“A man with a backpack approached the soldiers, pulled out a machete and wanted to assault them.”
The French Interior Ministry confirms a “serious security threat” is underway at the Louvre, Paris. The BBC reports:
“The soldier is reported to have been attacked with a knife and his assailant seriously injured. The attacker is said to have been trying to enter the museum. A big security operation is reported to be under way at the Louvre and a nearby shopping centre.”
According to L’Express:
The Prefect of Police, Michel Cadot, has just held a short press briefing. He confirmed that the assailant was still alive and reported that he uttered threats and shouted “Allah Akbar”.
According to the French Interior Ministry, the suspect is alive and is receiving medical treatment. It also announced a second suspect was detained and is now being questioned.
